Background

The Indigenous Communities/SCC Liaison is a part-time staff position for someone who loves Jesus and has demonstrated a desire for reconciliation with Indigenous Communities. A local Indigenous Community and Sardis Community Church are on a reconciliation pathway that has become a significant part of each community. This journey began several years ago and activities have included sharing common meals, operating a children’s camp, gardening projects, joint participation on ceremonial occasions, emergency shelter assistance, prison ministry, and the forming of many friendships between individuals of the two communities.

The time commitment would be approximately 8 hours per week to start.


Responsibilities would include:

  1. Reporting to the Lead Pastor for accountability and direction.
  2. Being a contact person for both SCC and the local Indigenous Community.
  3. Planning joint activities with Indigenous leaders and encouraging SCC participation in those activities as appropriate

Wage: Starting at $25/hr., with potential increase based on experience and education

Arnold Community Church is looking for a Worship Coordinator who has a desire to work alongside our existing worship teams and Worship Ministry Leadership Team. This person will provide leadership, admin support and creative design to our worship services and will work closely with the Lead Pastor and the worship team leaders to increasingly help our church grow in our worship.

Prerequisites:

  • A professed faith in Jesus Christ and an agreeance with the MB Confession of Faith found at https://www.mennonitebrethren.ca/mb-confession-of-faith/
  • Strong leadership and administration skills
  • Ability to lead worship from an instrument (piano or guitar)
  • Experience and training (accredited school) in worship leading
  • Experience with Planning Center Services and Proclaim software an asset

Outline of Responsibilities:

Administration/leadership of our Sunday services

  • Plan weekly services with Lead Pastor
  • Lead worship in rotation with our existing worship leaders
  • Work with existing worship leaders/teams towards our agreed upon vision of worship
  • Be prepared to fill a variety of roles (musician, vocals, audio/visual) on Sunday mornings
  • Make sure weekly worship leaders receive & provide necessary details for service
  • Facilitate the design of engaging and consistent Sunday media presentations
  • Be present for Sunday mornings regardless of role Coordination of the Worship Ministry
  • Create quarterly worship ministry schedule
  • Work with Lead Pastor & Ministry Leadership Team to plan & oversee worship events (Advent season, Lent season, worship nights, etc.)
  • Identify and help to screen new worship volunteers
  • Administrate and oversee the equipping of volunteers (conferences, in-house training, etc.) with input from Worship Ministry Leadership Team
  • Contribute to our social networks with worship ministry related content

Worship through music is central to our life as a church, drawing us into communion with God and one another. We’re seeking someone who is passionate about Gospel-centered worship and equipping others to live bold, Christ-honoring lives through music ministry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn from and be fully onboarded by our existing Worship Director, ensuring a seamless transition into this vital role. 

POSITION DETAILS

Position Title: Worship Director

Reports To: Executive Pastor

Position Type: Salaried Full-Time

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Pastoral and Music Ministry
    • Leadership Development: Equip and mentor musicians, vocalists, and tech volunteers, helping them grow spiritually and musically.
    • Gospel-Centered Worship Services: Plan and lead Christ-centered, engaging services in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Technical Director.
    • Spiritual Mentorship: Provide biblical, God-centered guidance to team members and congregants in need of spiritual encouragement or transition.
    • Special Events: Play a creative and leadership role in events like Easter, Christmas Eve, and other key church initiatives.
    • Worship Leadership: Lead the majority of Sunday services vocally and/or instrumentally, fostering a vibrant and participatory worship experience.
  2. Volunteer Development and Training
    • Equip Worship Teams: Identify, train, and mentor volunteers to ensure the effective delivery of worship across Sunday services and other events.
    • Next-Gen Development: Partner with ministry leaders in Youth, Young Adults, and other next-gen ministries to grow and mentor emerging worship leaders.
    • Technical Training: Develop and implement training for sound engineers, ensuring excellence in both live and live-stream settings.
  3. Technical Oversight
    • Maintain and oversee all stage, sound, and recording equipment to ensure reliability and effectiveness.
    • Plan upgrades and innovations for technical equipment to keep worship environments effective and engaging.
    • Manage the Main Street Recording Studio, utilizing it as a tool to further worship ministry goals.
  4. Administration Scheduling:
    • Organize and schedule all worship teams and personnel for weekly services and events.
    • Budget Management: Oversee the worship ministry budget, ensuring resources are stewarded effectively.
    • Planning Center: Use Planning Center to manage service details and team communications.
    • Communication: Develop clear, creative ways to engage volunteers and the congregation.
  5. Professional and Spiritual Growth
    • Dedicate time to personal and professional development through books, courses, retreats, and other approved growth opportunities.

  • Spiritual Maturity: A leader who exemplifies Christ-centered humility, wisdom, and faithfulness, balancing grace and truth in ministry.
  • Musical Fluency: Competence in leading vocally and on an instrument, with the ability to chart, transpose, and communicate effectively with instrumentalists and vocalists.
  • Technical Knowledge: A baseline understanding of audio systems, stage setup, and sound engineering to manage technical needs effectively.
  • Administrative Capability: Strong organizational skills to coordinate teams, schedules, and budgets, while communicating effectively with staff and volunteers.
